Events

Our events bring together a cross-disciplinary mix of professionals, including BID economic development and planning experts, public-sector staff from agencies like the NYCEDC, architects, urban designers, and real estate developers. While the atmosphere is curated to be low-pressure and social, each gathering features a brief speaking moment or an optional Q&A session with leadership from the host organization. This model is designed to foster organic, long-term professional relationships and create accessible entry points into the industry for early- to mid-career professionals.

In September 2025, YPN cohosted a happy hour with the Downtown Alliance at Lucky Tiger in Lower Manhattan. Attendees included people from BIDs, government, non-profits, real estate, and more. The happy hour featured speaker Jessica Lappin, the President of the Alliance. She gave words on her experience in city council as well as the past, current, and future efforts of the Alliance.

During December 2025, YPN cohosted its third mixer with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership at Golfzon Social. Between drinks and networking, attendees were encouraged to hit the links and try out the golf simulators. Special speaker and President of the Partnership, Regina Myer, gave words on her career and the importance of maintaining networks throughout her professional career --- as well as her experience at the Department of City Planning.

YPN hosted its fourth happy hour with the Meatpacking District Management Association. Jeffrey LeFrancois, the executive director, spoke about the organization's most recent efforts -- especially around placemaking. Brass Monkey, a Meatpacking District staple, provided the space for the event. It was great to see such a diverse crowd all working within economic development network with one another.
